Passenger traffic at Dubai International Airport grew 10.3% in June compared to the same month last year, while growth in the first six months of the year was 5%. The total number of passengers passing through the airports three terminals reached 3,361,413 in June 2009 up from 3,048,220 for the same period last year. The number of passengers during the first six months of the year reached 19,453,775. Passenger traffic increased 2.1% in the first quarter of the year, 6.4% in April, and 71% in May.
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) said while passenger numbers continue to grow in the region, the year will finish with a net loss of $1.5 billion (Dh5.5 billion). Chief Executive of Dubai Airports said “Passenger traffic is on the rise and cargo is holding its own in a very tough economic environment.”
