A top official with the Fujairah International Airport (FIA) said they expect to receive three new airlines by the end of this year. The airports General Manager said talks regarding transporting passengers from the airport are under way now. Dr. Khaled Almazrouri said they are in an advanced stage of discussion and “the airlines will get passengers from the whole east coast including Qalba, Dibba, Khurfakan, and parts of Oman.”
FIA does not have any commercial airlines but has a capacity for two million passengers annually. The airport handles 50 chartered flights every day. It is strategically located on the east coast of the UAE. Dr. Khaled said they are between 30% and 40% less expensive than Dubai and Sharjah.
