Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) said it expects to complete the new 110 meter tall air traffic control tower later this year. This will be the first project completed under the US 6.8 billion (Dh25bn) airport redevelopment plan. Chief Executive for ADAC, Rudy Vercelli, said the new airport tower “will resemble a torch in the evening”. It will be lit from the inside and be a beacon for aircraft as well as motorists along the Dubai expressway.
Because the company’s board of directors recently changed, award of the primary construction project at the planned Midfield Terminal may be postponed. This is the redevelopment projects showcase facility and scheduled to open in late 2012. Vercelli talked about the scheduling on the sidelines of the Airport in Expo in Dubai. He said “We are not yet ready, we want to make sure the new board is in place, fully informed, and abreast of what’s going on before we move forward.
