CEO for Dubai Airport Paul Griffith said the economic slowdown does not affect the airports long term infrastructure plans. He said development of Dubai World Central had not been affected very much by the economic slump, but they have established a more realistic timeline for completing the project. Dubai World Central is a 140 square km aviation project being built in Jeb Ali around the Al Maktoum International Airport.
Griffiths said they have now confirmed Dubai World Central will launch in June 2010. The initial target was June 2009, but he explained that similar to plans for the completion of Terminal 3 “we decided to take a little more time and that’s given us a much much more realistic timetable to achieve everything we’ve got to achieve”.
