Louis Vuitton has made a spectacular airport debut in association with The Shilla Duty Free at South Korea’s Incheon International Airport.
The 550sq m Incheon store is dedicated to Louis Vuitton’s passion for travel.
It features leathergoods, women’s and men’s shoes, belts, ties, textiles, fashion, jewellery, sunglasses, watches and other accessories.
Sales in year one are expected to hit US$100 million. And given booming Chinese traffic that could be a conservative estimate.
Amid the euphoria surrounding the Louis Vuitton opening, Gucci has closed down two of its Shilla Duty Free outlets and is set to re-open them with arch-rivals Lotte.
Chanel will not renew its contract with Shilla Duty Free and withdraw in mid-September. This follows allegations of preferential treatment to Louis Vuitton.
