Doha, QATAR – Qatar Masters champion Paul Lawrie has given one lucky traveller flying through Doha International Airport a New Year cheer after picking him as the winner of a luxury car in Qatar Duty Free’s popular raffle draw.
The Scotsman took time out of his celebrations after victory in the premier golf tournament in Doha to perform the draw at Qatar Airways’ exclusive Premium Terminal at Doha International Airport.
American national Jose Sureda emerged as the lucky prize winner of a brand new Lotus Evora after his name was drawn first.
Elated after hearing the news, Mr Sureda, who lives in Spain, said: “This is the perfect New Year gift. I am extremely delighted about my win and would like to thank Qatar Duty Free and wish them continued success in the years to come.”
Sureda bought the winning ticket during his transit at Doha International Airport en route to Madrid with Qatar Airways.
Award-winning Qatar Duty Free, a subsidiary of national airline Qatar Airways, was the Official Retail Partner of the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters 2012. During the four-day tournament, the retailer staged an exclusive exhibition booth within the popular public village offering visitors exciting promotions, competitions and prizes.
A large number of golf enthusiasts visited and took part in the tournament, participating also in the ‘Chipping and Putting’ competitions, Winners received gift baskets and vouchers, and each visitor had the opportunity to enter a daily raffle draw to win a high definition Canon video camera.
