While most employers believe that a good in person interview combined with an impressive CV are the most important factors effecting their decision to hire a candidate, Fairmont Hotels has developed its own testing process that is critical in determining whether they offer the candidate the job. The testing process assesses how well the candidate will fit into the hotel.
The Fairmont Selection Interview was developed in partnership with Gallup, a consultancy specializing in the study of human nature and behavior. The test is designed to determine if the candidate has certain innate characteristics that make it more likely for him or her to succeed on the job. Rachel Moosa, a human resources director at Fairmont, explained that 23 years ago, they asked the question – What makes a great Fairmont employee? “We wanted to find out the profile of their best performing employees in order to hire more people like that.”
