Emirates Airlines, is expanding its Indian operations with particular focus on Kerala routes. The Dubai based carriers weekly flights from Kozhikode will nearly double to 11 while weekly flights out of Thiruvananthapuram will increase from eight to twelve. Emirates Airlines sales manager for South Kerala, Asha Subramanian, said the number of weekly flights out of Kerala will increase 32 per cent to 37 by December.
Kochi currently operates 14 flights. Subramanian said Emirates Airline bookings from the state capital grew between 25-30 per cent since 2006, and the airline “did not want to be found wanting in seat capacity as and when the slowdown effect faded.” After the new flights are added, seating capacity every week from Thiruvananthapuram will increase from 2,200 to 3,300.
