State owned low cost carrier flydubai will begin twice daily flight to Doha, Qatar on October 18. This will be its first GCC route. CEO Ghaith Al Ghaith said the new service “is intended to benefit the economies of both the UAE and Qatar and help to increase passenger numbers overall by making air travel more accessible and affordable to a wider group of people.”
This is flydubai’s seventh route since it began operations in June 2009. Ghaith Al Ghaith said in August the carrier planned to operate between 14 and 16 destinations in the Middle East and subcontinent by the end of 2009. The Doha flight will depart from Dubai during peak travelling times – at 0730 hours and 2020 hours. Return flights will take off from Doha at 0830 and 2120 hours. The price for a one way ticket starts at AED200 including taxes and one 10kg piece of luggage.
