Emirate Airlines, based in Dubai, announced their first codeshare agreement with Virgin Blue Group’s new international airline V Australia on the trans-Tasman route beginning 25 October. The agreement will provide connections to V Australia guests when travelling between New Zealand and the USA. Passengers using Emirates to travel on the Trans-Tasman sector can conveniently connect to and from V Australia’s international service between Sydney and Los Angeles. The Emirates ‘EK’ code and V Australia’s ‘VA’ code will identify the code share flights.
Emirates Senior Vice President for Commercial Operations Far East and Australasia, Richard Jewsbury, said “Our decision to join hands with V Australia is further demonstration of our commitment to the Australian travel industry. Chief Executive for Virgin Blue said the two companies are an ideal fit and they have “the same commitment to quality and service.”
