A flydubai flight to Berlin was cancelled at the last minute on Saturday, stranding over 100 passengers who had traveled from other emirates to take the flight. An airline staff said the 10:30 am flight was cancelled because of technical reasons. The low cost carrier issued a statement apologizing to passengers for the cancellation. The statement said “As a gesture of good will we have offered all passengers a free return ticket to anywhere on our network.”
Several passengers expressed frustration over the delay and anger that they were not informed about the cancellation before they arrived at the airport. Some passengers had purchased perishable items which had to be thrown away, including Mohammed Ali from Abu Dhabi. He explained he had purchased the ticket to Berlin because the fare was cheap but now had to throw out a case of hammour for which he had paid Dh250.
