Swiss International Airlines (SIA), the national carrier for Switzerland, began services to Dubai on their new A330-300 aircraft from Zurich. Passengers from Dubai made the inaugural flight to Zurich soon after midnight. An SIA sales executive said Dubai is the second market to receive the A330-300 plan and “this reiterates the importance of servicing passengers from the region.”
SIA is investing more than $878 million (Dh3.2 billion) in a renewal program which includes replacing smaller aircraft with nine new Airbus A330-300s. The fleet is expected to be complete by 2011 and will reduce SIA’s CO2 emissions by about 13%. The new aircraft is fitted with the latest innovations in seats. Premium passengers enjoy a new business class seat outfitted with an adjustable state of the art air cushion, and more space. They will be able to sleep lying down horizontally on a two meter flat seat, which also includes a massage function.
