The UAE and Columbia signed a memorandum of understanding that will increase the number of flights between the two countries. The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) in the UAE and its counterpart in Columbia reached an agreement to add as many as 28 passenger flights between the two countries. The CAA said there are plans to begin an equal number of cargo services each week. This is the first such agreement Columbia has signed with civil aviation authorities in the region.
According to the Memorandum of Understanding the flights will be designated to RAK airways, flydubai, Etihad Airways, and Emirates Airlines. These carriers will also be allowed to operate any kind of service on any aircraft type to Cartagena, Barranquilla, Santa Marta, Providence Island, Armenia, and San Andres.
