April 21- Dubai Airports said on Tuesday that passengers are strongly advised to not got to the airport until and unless they have confirmed their flights with their airline. Several contingency plans along with the deployment of extra staff are in place at the airport to facilitate stranded passengers, the authority said.
In this regard, various airlines are regularly updating their websites. Meanwhile, the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has set up a group to monitor and take remedial action in the interest of aviation safety although the cloud will most probably not arrive in the region. “We stress that it is highly unlikely that the ash cloud will reach UAE airspace” Omar Bin Ghaleb, deputy director general of GCAA said in a statement.
