May 13- Flydubai and Dubai Naturalisation and Residency Department (DNRD) have signed an agreement that will allow travelers to collect their visas by email or phone. The service is an effort to make the visa acquisition process a tad easier, it was learnt.
The service will be launched on a trial basis for three months starting from May 19. The airline will offer M-visa at no additional charge to passengers. Speaking about the agreement, Major General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, DNRD’s Director General said: “The launch of our electronic visa service with Flydubai highlights our commitment to making the visa process as easy as possible for the public. This new development is in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, in enabling DNRD to carry out its mission to serve the community and the public.”
The process works something like this: when applying for an entry permit by visiting DNRD offices or using online applications, customers will receive a secure entry visa with a DNRD e-logo and e-signature delivered via SMS and email. Upon arrival, immigration officers in Dubai airport will be able to retrieve the original visa either by scanning the barcode from the visitor’s mobile phone or from a print out of the PDF.
