June 6 – Sharjah based budget carrier Air Arabia has announced it will start flights to Najaf, Iraq from June 8th. Flight service to Najaf, Air Arabia’s first destination in Iraq, will operate twice a week. Including the new Najaf destination, Air Arabia now operates 64 routes from three hubs in the UAE, Morocco, and Egypt, where service began on June 1.
Air Arabia flights between Sharjah and Najaf will operate on Tuesdays and Fridays, departing from Sharjah at 8:40 am and landing in Najaf at 10 am. Return flights will depart on the same day at 10:45 am and land in Sharjah at 13:40 pm. Sherif Attia, Chief Operating Officer of Air Arabia’s Sharjah hub said Air Arabia’s first Iraq destination is an important milestone in its history. He said “Iraq has great potential as a destination for business and personal travelers, as well as long term growth potential for religious and cultural tourism. Air Arabia’s entry into the country will only boost such prospects”
