Are you having a pleasant flight? Now British Airways knows exactly how happy you are flying with them. An experimental new blanket and head-band is being used by BA to test the physical and mental state of passengers during every phase of the flight. How does the new BA menu impact the body, how does the in-flight entertainment affect the passenger’s mood and what is the impact of the advanced lighting system were some of the questions answered by the Happiness Blanket.
British Airways invited seven people on a flight from London to New York and seated them across World Traveller Plus, Club World through to First Class, so they could measure the effect of refinements made in all cabins. A Myndplay headband was used to measure tiny electrical fluctuations in the neurons of the brain. This information was sent via Bluetooth, every second, to fibre optic lights woven directly into each Happiness Blanket. When the blanket goes red, the wearer is stressed and if it goes blue, the wearer is relaxed.
Now that is so much better than filling out a comments card.
