Garuda Indonesia will start domestic flights this year, boosting connectivity among Indonesia’s cities and islands in this far flung archipelago, said Emirsyah Satar, CEO of Garuda Indonesia.
Garuda has made Medan, capital of North Sumatra its secondary hub. Garuda has launched flights from Medan to Palembang, Padang, and Batam and on May 1st, new flights will be from Medan to Pekanbaru (Riau) and Banda Aceh. Starting 1 June, Garuda will fly Medan-Penang in Malaysia.
Flights from Medan will use the new Bombardier CRJ 1000 aircrafts with seating capacity for 96 passengers, 12 seats in Executive class, and 84 in Economy.
