Emirates Airline has appealed against a ban on its daily Boeing 777-300ER flights from Milan to New York. The Italian carriers association, Assaereo, had lodged a complaint to prevent Emirates, a non-European carrier to pick up passengers from Milan to a destination which is not the carrier’s home country. The regional court had granted the request for a ban but the Council of State, a superior body, has granted a stay until the appeal against the ban is heard later this year.
More than 70,000 passengers have already booked flights on the Milan-New York route for flights between April and August 2014 and an Emirates spokesperson has said that during the last six months 3,500 tonnes of cargo have also been transported on this route – justifying the need for the Emirates service.
If you are planning to fly to Milan, the fashion capital of Europe, and after a stop-over continue on to the fashion capital of New York, you can continue to do so.
