
Queen Mary 2 and Queen Elizabeth, the two largest cruise liners of Cunard, docked overnight in Dubai for the first time at the Mina Rashid Cruise Terminal.
Queen Elizabeth arrived first at 8 am on Friday 18th April, bringing with her a total of 1,888 passengers and 983 members of the crew. She reached Dubai’s Mina Rashid Port from Abu Dhabi and after an overnight stay sailed for Jordan.
Today, Queen Mary 2, the largest ship of the British-American owned shipping company Cunard, will arrive in Dubai and dock overnight at Mina Rashid, carrying a total of 2,459 passengers and 1,249 members of the crew. Queen Mary 2 left Colombo in Sri Lanka for Dubai, and will continue to Muscat, Oman on 21st April.
Hamad bin Mejren, Executive Director, Business Tourism at DTCM, said: “This double ‘royal’ visit highlights Dubai’s status as the region’s leading cruise hub, and the growing attraction of Dubai as a destination for cruise tourists. Having both of these vessels – Queen Elizabeth and Queen Mary 2 – not only make calls at Mina Rashid but also stay overnight for the first time marks a significant step in our evolution as a cruise centre.’
