Passenger traffic at Dubai International Airport recorded double digit year-on-year increases for the sixth consecutive month during November, according to data released by IATA, the International Air Traffic Association. Passenger traffic increased 12.6 percent to 3,520,287 passengers in November 2009, up from 3,125,351 for the same month last year. This brings total year to date passenger traffic to 37,085,392, 8.5 percent higher than the first 11 months in 2008. North America, Australasia, and Asia were among the market segments with the biggest increase in traffic.
President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Shaikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, said “The continued exceptional expansion in passenger and cargo traffic sends a strong positive signal about the health of this sector and the local economy.” Saeed Al Maktoum is also the Chairman of Dubai Airports, and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group.
