Yemin is trying hard to improve the economy and tourism despite security problems as the country is at war with rebels in the north. The Yemeni Ministry of Tourism held its fourth consultative meeting on Saturday with tourist leaders from around the country. Deputy Prime Minister for Interior Affairs said Yemin shows great potential for as a vital and promising sector.
Sadiq Abu Ras said “The country has taken practical steps ensuring stability and tourist growth to promote its economy.” He emphasized that promotion of the tourism sector is part of a five year development plan including agriculture, fishery wealth, oil and transference industry, and enhancing institutional and legislative buildings suitable for tourism. Abu Ras said that despite ongoing security problems, there has been growth in tourism activities the past three years.
