The Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) and Singapore Hotels Association (SHA) have made an agreement to work together in order to develop the hospitality industry. SCTDA Director General A. Al No’man and SHA Executive Director finalized the agreement at a meeting attended by hospitality experts from Singapore and the UAE. Al No’man said “This meeting is a bridge that will strengthen relations between the UAE and Singapore, and a major step towards developing mutual tourism activities between our two countries.”
Al No’man said the new hotel classification system has prompted Sharjah hospitality facilities to be more competitive and improve their classifications. He explained that as the market matures and begins recovering it is important that for Sharjah to continue improving the emirates tourism products. Sharjah had 109 hospitality facilities by mid 2009 – 41 hotels and 68 hotel apartments, including 13 new properties added to meet growing demand.
