Prince Sultan bin Salman announced on Monday that development of the tourism industry is a strategic choice and national project for Saudi Arabia. The Prince, who is chairman of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA) made the announcement in his address to the United Nations World Tourism Organization in Astana, Kazakh.
Prince Sultan talked about the SCTA’s steps to improve the investment environment for tourism and tourism marketing. He said “Saudi Arabia has been familiar with tourism for centuries and has been receiving millions of visitors from all over the world.” The Kingdom receives millions of Muslim pilgrims every year and is the birthplace of Islam and home of the Two Holy Mosques. The SCTA has implemented more than 140 projects and is organizing the International Conference of Architectural Heritage in Islamic countries. The conference is being held under the patronage of The Two Holy Mosques and will be held on April 18-23, 2010.
