Dubai’s Deputy Ruler, Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said he is satisfied with progress on the new $4.2 billion metro system. During an inspection of the new transport system on Monday, he said the new system will bring in more tourists. He said when completed Dubai Metro will “attract more holiday makers to the UAE, giving a boost to internal tourism and energizing and diversifying the local economy”
Chairman and executive director of the Roads and Transport Authority updated Sheikh Maktoum and took him on a tour through a number of stations. Sheikh Maktoum said the new system will be “one of the major flagship civilizational and tourist landmarks in the country.” Transport chiefs announced it will launch in September and prices will range between AED1.80 and AED6.50.
