Turkey is actively promoting tourism in their country to Saudi Arabian travelers. A delegation of representatives from the tourism industry in Turkey and Saudi Arabia met for workshop at the Sheraton Villa on Sunday night. The Turkish delegation hopes to receive 100,000 tourists from Saudi Arabia this year.
The counselor of culture and information at said this is the first time a Turkish delegation has visited Saudi Arabia. More than 60,000 tourists from Saudi Arabia visited Turkey in 2008, up from about 40,000 in 2007. Turkey’s tourism revenue last year was $21 billion and represents 2.4% of GDP. More than 26 million tourists from all over the world visited Turkey last year.
