The worlds largest water feature, the Dubai Fountain, opened in downtown Burj Dubai last weekend. American designers WET and Emaar completed the 275 meter fountain whose height is matched by its technical innovation. The fountain is the length of two football fields and can shoot sprays of water more than 150 meters. The water sprays are set to the sound of classical Arabic and Western music, and when in full force there is about 83,000 liters of water in the air.
Fountain performances now take place daily every thirty minutes between 6 pm and 8 pm and every twenty minutes between 8 pm and 11 pm. They are accompanied by a musical repertoire including a signature piece by Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli (Time to Say Goodbye), Baba Yetu, and Sama Dubai.
