Park Hyatt is planning a major expansion in the Gulf and Indian sub continent region. The American Hotel brand will triple the number of hotels in this region, adding 30 new hotels by 2015. Managing Director for Hyatt, Peter Fulton, said their revenue per available room is down 20 per cent, but they are still doing well in the Middle East.
He explained they are going through cyclical changes because of demand levels, “but generally, we’re holding up very well and we expect to see things on a positive note this year.“
Two of Hyatts’ new hotels in the region are the Park Hyatt Jeddah in Saudi Arabia, scheduled to open in 90 days, and the Grand Hyatt Doha in Qatar, which opened earlier this year. They will bring two more hotels to the UAE within two years. Fulton also said they have many hotels planned for the Indian subcontinent within the next few years.
