Jumeirah Group employees saved the company close to $2.7 million by taking voluntary unpaid leave during the first quarter of the current fiscal year. The company’s HR director Mathew Mee said “It’s amazing the take-up when you go to colleagues and ask them ‘are you interested in taking time off to help the company” He said many have done just that and they will be coming back to the business. Mee added he accepted the offer of unpaid leave as well.
Movenpick Hotels & Resorts manager praised Jumeirah Groups offer of unpaid leave because in the hotel industry there is not often an opportunity to take a break of up to two months between jobs and one often must take a new job the next day, so “I think what Jumeirah did there was a fantastic move”.
