Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority, has said that Abu Dhabi will have 14,000 new hotel rooms within three years, bringing the total number of hotel rooms to 26,000 by 2012.
“So far, there is no a noticeable effect by the international crisis on the rates of hotel occupancy in Abu Dhabi. The impact of the international financial crisis on the tourism sector, in case there will be an impact, will be limited, as 80 per cent of Abu Dhabi’s tourism belongs to business tourism which is usually not affected much by temporary crises,” he added.
Sheikh Sultan was speaking on the sidelines of a press conference organised by the authority to announce the details of the World Ophthalmology Congress 2012, a medical meeting that is expected to attract more than 12000 delegates.
