May 5 -According to a survey conducted by the Insignia Travel Intelligence Report, 71 per cent people (out of 2,000 respondents) still think that Dubai is the ultimate luxury destination, thus keeping in line with its ‘seven-star’ tourist hub.
In this regard, more than 90 per cent of the respondents feel that news regarding the finances of entities such as Dubai World has had no effect on the bookings, said Insignia Managing Director Gaurav Sinha. “In spite of negative coverage in the international press, tourists continue to recognise Dubai as an attractive and popular destination and it has not dented our reputation as a luxury holiday getaway,” he said.
Meanwhile, the United Kingdom tops the list as far as tourists to Dubai are concerned, said the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM). Together with Ireland, it sent 854,601 visitors to Dubai in 2008, while UK nationals using Dubai International Airport that year amounted to 3.55 million.
