May 13 – Makkah’s Governor Prince Khaled Al-Faisal laid the foundation stone for the development of landmarks and various sites in Taif on Tuesday. The ceremony was attended by Prince Sultan bin Salman, Chairman of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA).
Prince Sultan’s intiative to change and improve the colour of the buildings in Shafa was also launched at the ceremony. “This is the first of a series of projects to be implemented by the commission in cooperation with the Municipal and Rural Affairs Ministry,” said Prince Sultan.
The project hopes to enhance tourism in Taif which is already known for attracting many tourists every year and will be completed in three years at an estimated cost of SR120 million. Meanwhile, Prince Khaled also launched 22 development and welfare projects in Taif which include health, road and municipal projects as well as the Dat Al-Erq Meeqat development project.
