Sharjah National Travel and Tourist Agency said its summer travel bookings for air tickets and increased 15 percent in the first two weeks of May compared to the same period last year. Zafar Imam, Managing Director of SNTTA said “The sales trend indicates that the travel industry, which has had some reversed over the past year, is now firmly back on track,”
Last year people were reluctant to travel for leisure because of concerns about job security during the global economic crisis. Zafar said the sales trends now shows a substantial increase in bookings for air tickets and holiday travel because of increased consumer confidence this season. SNTTA, which is the UAE’s first ISO 9001 certified travel company, said the most popular holiday destinations this summer season are Malaysia, Egypt, Turkey, UK, and Germany.
