July 15 – The Department of Economic Development (DED) in Ras Al Khaimah shut down three travel agencies in the emirate for selling false air tickets to six families.
The families had paid around Dh56,000 to these travel agents early this month, to reserve and issue them air tickets to Tunisia.
Hamad Al Shamsi, Deputy Director of the DED said the outlets were shut down after the department received complaints from the six families. He said the tour and travel agents would be referred to the Public Prosecution after the initial investigations. “The public should be careful and they should always obtain receipts from them after making payments for different services as this can be used as evidence in case they are being cheated,” Shamsi said.
