The peaceful protests in Cairo’s Tahrir Square erupted in violence when a group of horse and camel riders entered the Square brandishing whips and trampling over people. It is not known whether these horse riders were complaining against the lack of tourists at Giza where they made money by giving tourists horse rides and camel rides, or if they were goons sent by the ruling party to break up the anti-Mubarak demonstrations.
Over 600 people were injured in the violent clashes that took place on Wednesday in Cairo.
While internet access has been restored, life remains at a standstill after 9 days of continued protests against President Mubarak’s 30 year rule. Refrains of “Irhal Irhal” echoed across the country urging the President to “Go Away!”
