A man plunged to his death after jumping off the 147th floor of Burj Khalifa – the world’s tallest building. The man was a disgruntled office worker whose employer did not accept his request for a leave of absence. The 30 year old Indian man fell 39 floors and landed on the terrace of the 108th floor. Emaar Properties, the owner of the tower in a statement to the press said, “At around 9am today, an incident involving a male was reported at the Burj Khalifa site. The concerned authorities have confirmed that it was a suicide, and we are awaiting the final report.” Dubai Police have also cofirmed the suicide.
This is the first time that someone has committed suicide by jumping off the Burj Khalifa which was launched in january 2010. The Burj has several floors of offices and residential apartments besdes being home to the world’s first Armani Hotel.
