In the late 1700s Bond Street was the favorite haunt of ‘The Bond Street Loungers’; dapper men who promenaded the street and became the early fashionistas or ‘peacocks’ of their day. They were depicted in literature and art.
To celebrate this year’s shopping season, Bond Street is recreating a 300 year old tradition by a £1 million festive illumination scheme that has white peacock feathers adorning one of London’s most expensive shopping streets. The illumination will continue until the new year.
