You might want to be on the lookout this August, as a shiny new fleet of food trucks is expected to head on down to Dubai. With foods ranging from wings and sliders to healthy food and shawarmas, Dubai is preparing for a huge change in its food scene.
Juicy wings and sliders will be available at the MOB van and Calle Tacos, an existing American brand based in Hollywood, will serve a variety of Mexican food. The F!T truck will cater to the health conscious, and Bio Bean, a local roastery which specialises in premium coffee, will make getting your morning coffee a lot easier. Other food trucks include Shawarma Station, the Jordanian Brisket Truck, and The Ice Cream Truck.
Two of the more interesting concepts are the eye-catching Toasted Grilled Cheese truck serving toast, sandwiches, soups and snacks, and Gobai, which, like you could tell from its name, provides customers with a menu that blends Indian food from Goa with dishes from Dubai.
The trucks will park in Dubai parks and beaches, and at events and festivals from August 17. They can also be booked to cater for private events. An app is in the works to provide customers with menus and GPS locations of each truck so you can track them down in Dubai.
The trucks are being run by Roundup, a division of the food company 54 (degree symbol) East and they plan to introduce more trucks later this year to take their fleet up to something around the 100 mark.
