If you are a football fan and want to be part of a historical event, here is an opportunity of a lifetime. The newly formed Shabab al Ahli Dubai Football Club that was formed in May 2017 after the merger of Al Shabab and Al Ahli clubs, will be playing their first ever game in September 2017. The exact dates will be announced when the draw for the 2017/18 12-team Arabian Gulf League (AGL) will take place at the UAE Football Association headquarters in Dubai on August 3 2017.
Participating teams for the forthcoming season are: champions Al Jazira, runners-up Al Wasl, Al Ain, Al Wahda, Al Nasr, Al Dhafra, Hatta, Dibba, Emirates and newly promoted Ajman.
The two other teams that will compete in the AGL are the newly formed Shabab Al Ahli Dubai and another new entrant, the Sharjah Sports Cultural Club which was formed after the merger of Sharjah and Al Shaab.
Several teams are currently in Europe on pre-season training camps. The Arabian Gulf Cup kicks off on September 8, followed by the Super Cup on September 15, while the opening round of the Arabian Gulf League fixtures will get under way on September 16 2017.
The Shabab al Ahli Dubai home ground is the Rashid Stadium located in Al Nahda which is easily accessible by the Green Line Dubai Metro Stadium stop.
