Frank Sinatra used to coo that love and marriage go together like a horse and carriage but if some activists have their way, the horses used in horse drawn carriages in Central Park New York may end up on a restaurant’s menu.
Activists for cleaner and safer streets in New York have convinced the two mayoral condidates in New York to agree to the end of horse drawn carriages in the city. While horses usually have a litter catching bucket near their rear end, people complain of pollution and environmental damage and want to see an end to this historical means of transport.

What most people are not aware of is the fact that if the 200+ horses in New York are left jobless, they will end up in the slaughter house as it costs about $200 per month to maintain a horse and not many people have the facilities to keep one. So, if you are planning to visit New York, you had better visit some time soon or you will not be able to ride on a horse driven carriage.
