If you were thinking of a surprise vacation in early January, the surprise is on you. Most airlines in the region are fully booked. For popular destinations like Dubai-New York and Jeddah-Dubai, Economy seats are priced sky high or are not available at all. So, if you were planning a surprise vacation – put it on hold, or go on a long drive.
Until mid-January there is a seasonal rush of airline passenger traffic with people returning home to start school or offices. In the GCC, many schools will actually close in mid-January and this will start another round of travel but this will result in some intra-GCC fares to increase while fares to European and North American destinations will start coming down.
If you definitely have to travel between now and January 10 2015, then try flying on airlines you have never flown before. But be prepared, you will not get inexpensive tickets even on a low cost carrier. It always pays to plan in advance.
