The Volvo Ocean Race which started in Alicante, Spain on October 4 2014 is now on its seventh leg. It set sail from Newport, Rhode Island for Lisbon, Portugal.
The Volvo Ocean Race 2014-15 is the 12th running of the world’s premier ocean yacht race marathon. The route, spanning some 39,379 nautical miles, visits 11 ports in eleven countries (Spain, South Africa, United Arab Emirates, China, New Zealand, Brazil, United States, Portugal, France, The Netherlands and Sweden) over nine months.
After racing to Lisbon they will go to Lorient in France, and then on to Gothenburg in Sweden, with a pit-stop in The Hague (Netherlands) on the way. They are expected to reach Gothenburg on June 27, 2015.
