Abu Dhabi’s Tourism Development and Investment Company (TDIC) said it is proceeding with plans to add 1,200 more hotel rooms to the hospitality sector. TDIC Senior Communication Manger for Abu Dhabi projects said the TDIC has cooperated with groups specializing in hotel management to add the rooms. Mahra Khalid Al Qassimi said the Qasar Al Sarab resort in the western region has been opened and all other tourism projects are going forward as planned.
Al Qasimmi was speaking on the sidelines of the opening of the Park Rotana Complex near Khalifa Park yesterday. The multi-use business and residential project is a joint venture between TDIC, Al Mada Tourism Investment Company, and a master developer of tourism destinations in Abu Dhabi. The complex includes the 318 room five star Park Rotana Hotel. Al Qassimi said ”TDIC seeks to provide 7,000 new hotel rooms by 2012. These rooms will support Abu Dhabi Government’s ambitions to attract 2.3 million visitors by then.”
