The Tourism Development and Investment Company (TDIC) said the Qasr Al Sarab Desert Resort by Antara officially opened to its first paying guests today. TDIC is the developer of the five star resort project, which is located on the world’s’ biggest stretch of uninterrupted desert – the-Empty Quarter (Rub Al Khali). The resort features a fort inspired design, and has 154 rooms, 47 villas, 10 royal villas, and is adjacent to a 9,000 square kilometer protected wildlife preserve, the biggest in the UAE.
Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Chief of the TDIC and Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority, said “This is a symbol of our highly respected Arabian hospitality and deep rooted-culture. We owe this splendor to our forefathers who were born in this rich Liwa Oasis and their visionary leadership that has become the influence for our present day progressive evolution.” The project aims to attract the business traveler as well as the leisure traveler, and the main target markets are Europe, the United Kingdom.
