The first Fairmont hotel in Abu Dhabi will open in Abu Dhabi next month, increasing the capitals portfolio of luxury hotels. The 369 room hotel will feature the first Marco Pierre White Steakhouse and Grill outside the UK, and a Frankie’s Italian Restaurant and Bar. The hotel will be located in the “between the bridges area”. The restaurants will open by the end of the month.
The regional vice president and general manager for Fairmont Dubai said “We look for tourism gateways, important heritage or historical sites and coveted destination.” Philip Barnes said this is an ideal time to debut their first property in the capital. Abu Dhabi is emerging as a cultural icon in the UAE, and numerous attractions will are scheduled over the next few years. Abu Dhabi hopes to increase the number of hotel guests from the current 1.5 million to 2.3 million by 2012. Some upcoming attractions that will be coming to the capital include the Louvre museum and Ferrari World theme park.
