has completed the first phase of the renovation of Al Bateen Wharf’s Fishing Marina, located in the oldest occupied area of Abu Dhabi. Renovation of the marina, which highlights Abu Dhabi’s rich heritage and seafaring culture, will give a boost to tourism in the capital. TDIC is the master developer of important cultural residential, and tourism destinations in Abu Dhabi.
TDIC Director for Public Relations and Events, Baseem Terkawi, said “We started the project in early 2009. The project will have three phases the last one being completed in 2013.” The first phase provides improved mooring facilities for fishermen. The marina’s mooring berths can now accommodate 323 fishing vessels varying in length from 10 to 18 meters. Each berth has running water, standard amenities, electrical power, and fire fighting equipment. The second phase of the renovation includes development of a fishermen’s community club, a luxury yacht marina, yacht club, underground parking facilities, and a boardwalk.
