May 4 – Hospitality Management Holdings (HMH) has announced that it will introduce 17 new hotels this year in the Middle Eastern market, many of which will be unveiled at the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) that will begin today at the Dubai Expo Convention Centre. “This is a landmark year for our group with a hotel opening practically every three weeks across our four brands and ATM is the perfect platform to showcase these. We have 17 new openings lined up this year, taking our existing portfolio of 33 to 50 — thus increasing the group’s total number of rooms by more than 40 per cent,” said Michel Noblet, Chief Executive of HMH.
Despite the recession, HMH is continuing with its expansion drive as it recently opened a five-star property in South Africa, making it the first hotel from the Gulf states to have a hotel there. “This was in quick succession to the opening of Coral Khartoum and Coral Port Sudan – our first two properties in Sudan,” added Noblet. “As others are trying to reign in, we continue to march ahead and are committed to our business objectives. Expansion is the key to success in any business and particularly ours. It takes a few years to develop a new property so you cannot afford to slow down the pace of expansion,” he pointed out.
The Arabian Travel Market will run till May 7 in Dubai.
