LOS ANGELES, CA – The Park Inn Muscat is the first hotel in Oman certified as having met the requirements of the Green Globe standard. The hotel also holds the honor of being the second hotel in the Middle East region and first hotel worldwide in the Rezidor Hotel Group to be merited the certificate. The Green Globe seal of approval is recognized as representing the highest quality in sustainable practices within travel, tourism, and related industries around the world. The paperless certification process took Park Inn Muscat four months to complete.
‘We opted to undergo the Green Globe certification process as part of our ‘Responsible Business’ actions. We chose this internationally-recognized brand for its credibility and the fact that it represents the best in environmental responsibility,” said chief engineer, Sushant Pawar, who is also in charge of responsible business at the hotel.
“This year we plan to place more focus on our environmental and social responsibilities,” he added. A green building is a high-performance building that is more environmentally responsible. Green buildings use less energy, less water, and fewer resources. They also have less of an impact on the environment and are healthier places for their occupants.
The Green Globe logo is widely recognized by travelers and is associated with companies who are striving to constantly improve their environmental performance. This is through recycling, minimizing waste, saving energy, and many other ways. In addition, the companies will also have developed social programs that bring direct benefits to their local community, provide extra-curricular training or skills, or engage in similar welfare-based activities.
