ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates – 25 March 2013: The St. Regis Abu Dhabi, set to open on 15th August this year, was visited by Starwood President and CEO, Frits van Paasschen, as part of an exclusive dignitary pre-opening inspection. The executives met the hotel team led by Oliver Key, General Manager of The St. Regis Abu Dhabi, who was accompanied by the Michelin-starred chef, Gary Rhodes.
Rhodes has been invited to play a significant role at The St. Regis Abu Dhabi and is taking charge of ‘Rhodes 44’. The British chef will oversee the food offering at the hotel, including the signature St. Regis Afternoon Tea, the food offerings at The St. Regis Bar and the in-room dining experience.
Other facilities at the St. Regis Abu Dhabi include Villa Toscana, a restaurant inspired by the summer residences seen in the rustic Tuscany region of Italy, a magnificent ballroom, five conference rooms, the Nation Riviera Beach Club, a Reméde Spa and a Hommage Gentleman’s Atelier.
Each of the hotel’s 283 guestrooms, including 40 suites, offer magnificent views of the Arabian Gulf, with The Abu Dhabi Suite, high on the “sky bridge” between the two Nation Towers, providing an incredible 360◦ panoramic vista. The signature St. Regis Butler Service will offer a discreetly unparalleled level of bespoke personal attention, complimentary for every room.
Frits van Paasschen and the Starwood Leadership Team are currently based in Dubai, as part of a month-long global headquarters relocation. Following the company’s successful management transfer to China in June 2011, this second leadership move reflects the hospitality organisation’s innovative management approach to cultivating a more global culture.
The St. Regis Abu Dhabi, a Starwood Hotels and Resorts’ managed hotel, is located in Nation’s Towers and is the third of three St. Regis properties making their debut in the Middle East; the other two being The St. Regis Saadiyat Island, Abu Dhabi and The St. Regis Doha, Qatar.
