This year for the Holy Month of Ramadan, which is expected to start on Saturday 21 July and continue until Sunday 19 August, Eastern Mangroves Hotel & Spa by Anantara has extracted the essence of Arabian spices and some of the best know Arabian traditional recipes to prepare a sumptuous feast of flavours for its very first ‘Iftar’ – breaking of the fast- and ‘Suhour’ – the pre-dawn meal before starting the fast, during the Holy Month of Ramadan. These special meals will be served in a unique Arabian setting overlooking the magnificent mangroves.
Iftar will be served at sunset in Ingredients, the hotel’s all-day dining restaurant, overlooking the mangroves lagoon. To break the fast, a selection of dates, dry figs and nuts await along with freshly baked breads and Arabic pita. A dedicated juice Section provides an array of fresh juices, laban and tamarind. A variety of a hot and cold mezzeh, salads, and soup await your pleasure, followed by a selection of Emirati specialities that will vary daily. The dessert station is not to be missed, with sweet cheese delicacies such as kellage and Coconut ghoriba (Moroccan macaroons) and Middle Eastern delights such as almond briwat and Othmaliah with keshta. Prices start from AED175++ per person inclusive of selected beverages.
Eastern Mangroves Hotel & Spa by Anantara will serve Suhour al fresco until 2.00am on the Pool Deck, adjacent to the Infinity Pool overlooking the Mangrove lagoon. An array of dishes will be prepared at the live cooking stations, including the essential shwarma and slow-roasted lamb with oriental rice. Be transported into a tale from the Arabian Nights as you relax and reflect, sipping Arabic coffee, or mint tea, and breathe in the subtle aromas of hubly bubbly while listening to the gentle lap of the lagoon waters and delicate notes of an accomplished Oud player.
Groups of more than 50 may enjoy a private Iftar in the Ballroom with a choice of menus, with prices starting from AED140++, while Suhour menus start from AED90++. Corporate daily delegate packages will also be available from AED140++.
During the Holy Month, Ingredients will remain open throughout the day until 11.00pm. While Room Service will continue to operate its usual 24 hour service to ensure all guests are catered for. The Mangroves Lounge and the Pool Deck will open from 7.00pm – 2.00am while signature restaurant Pachaylen will open from 7.00pm – 11.00pm.
Executive Chef Aztaj Eddoukani leads a team of multi-talented culinary professionals, including Emirati chefs, to combine the very best of regional and Emirati cuisine and has developed a series of menus which include traditional favourites and local specialities.
Traditionally, the fast is broken in the company of family and close friends, and is a special time for those observing the Holy Month. This practice reminds those fasting to think of the hunger and suffering of those less fortunate, through the abstinence of food and drink during daylight hours.
